![]() Considering the price, I am very satisfied with the subwoofer, but not with the satellites. (note I am not sure that large speakers would work very well). Overall Review: I added some old stereo speakers I had lying around from a old broken sony stereo (book shelf speakers - fairly small) that works very well with the set. I had a nice set of JBL satellite speakers with subwoofer out 3.5mm port so this wasn't a problem. The satellites pretty much poor quality and don't use these at all. The best human ear can detect roughly down to 20Hz but I am guessing most won't be able to tell the difference. Don't expect to blow away your neighbors with the bass.Ĭons: I had JBL subwoofer that died before this one, had better extreme LOWS. A surprise epecially for a sub that is rated 9watts. The bass is quite decent for even large rooms. The subwoofer has bare wire connections for satelites which is good for connecting speakers from old broken stereo equipment lying around the garage. The input is a regular 3.5mm on the Subwoofer. There must be 20 Altec models available at the moment - often more than 1 in any given price range. ![]() I have ACS295s, ATP3s, and ACS345s (IBM-label) speakers and they all sound great. Most of the money for the unit went towards just the subwoofer. Altec speakers are generally pretty good. Pros: The subwoofer is probably the best for the price you pay.
